Memories of Darebin

People's stories brought to life

Darebin Memories are the collected stories of people who haved lived or worked in Darebin during the last 170 years.   The earliest recollections we have are from the memories of 'Mernda', an unknown local who, during the 1910s' recalled Preston and Northcote of the 1860s.   These stories bring to life the people who were responsible for the growth and development of Darebin in its early colonial days.

Over the ensuing decades we have accumulated more and more of these stories and they form an invaluable resource in reclaiming the fabric of life from Darebin's earliest days.

If you think you have a story to tell about your life in Darebin please talk to a member of the Information Team on 1300 655 355.
