Heidelberg Motor Inn, 579-585 Heidelberg Road Alphington

Heidelberg Motor Inn, Alphington

The Heidelberg Motor Inn opened in 1979 on land previously part of the Outer Circle railway line reserve.     Despite any early success, the business was in trouble by 1992 when John Swaney, declared bankruptcy.

Despite this, the motel continued to operate, serving as a conference centre as well as continuing to offer accommodation.   Refurbished in 2007, it offered 9,160 square metres of rooms and conference facilities.

It closed down around 2013 and the building was demolished to make way for Hemingway Residences, a complex of 55 town houses.
