Tarbert

27 Herbert Street, Northcote

27 Herbert Street, Northcote - a double storey Victorian terrace residence on Northcote Hill - was known as "Tarbert". It was known as "Dirty Daffs" in the 1930s, when it was either a brothel or a sly grog shop, or both. It apparently has its own ghost, a middle-aged woman from an unknown period who has a happy disposition and loves the house, so won't leave.
