George Henderson

George Henderson was an active member of the Preston community from the 1920s through to the 1950s.   A qualified accountant, Henderson joined a Thornbury real estate agency in 1919, and later became proprietor. 
A passionate supporter of services for the mentally disabled, Henderson became the Victorian President of the Helping Hands Association, Deputy Chairman Victorian Council for Mentally Retarded Children, President Northcote-Preston Branch Helping Hand Association Training Centres, member of the executive of the Auxiliary of the Janefield Residential Training Centre, and Deputy Chairman of the Mental Health Advisory Panel.
