Thomas W. Andrews

Mayor of Preston

Thomas W. Andrews was a Preston Councillor between 1938 and 1957, serving as Mayor in 1942-3.  He had a teaching background and was prominent in many organisations such as The Australian Labor Party, the Australian Natives’ Association, the East Preston Progress Association and the Melbourne Trade Hall Council.

Andrews was elected to Federal Parliament in 1949 as the Member for Darebin, serving until 1956.  His parliamentary career including serving on the Foreign Affairs Committee and "The House" Committee.
