Ross Street, Alphington

Ross Street Alphington first appears in the street directories in 1925.  It was named after Ross Smith , who with his brother Keith, and mechanics Jim Bennett and Walley Shiers, became the first men to fly from England to Australia.

They arrived in Australia on 10th December 1919, the flight having taken 27 days.

The first resident in the street was William Gotch.
