Harry Swain

Preston Mayor 1935 - 36

After many changes in career, Harry Swain arrived in Preston at the advanced age of 57 to establish a shoe shop in High Street Preston.  A gifted public speaker, Swain was elected to the Preston Council in 1932, representing West Ward, and was to remain in office until 1948.  In 1935-6 Swain became Mayor of Preston.  He died in 1955.
