James Sutch

Northcote Mayor 1925 - 6

James Sutch was Mayor of Northcote in 1925-6. He was a former President of the Northcote Political Labor Council, and resigned from the Labor Party over conscription. When he stood for the Council in 1917, he defeated the endorsed Labor candidate in central Ward by 114 votes. When he stood for mayor in 1925, he won against John Cain, Snr, 11 votes to 3.
