(1858 – 1919)

John Reid was the manager of the Hutton bacon and ham factory in South Preston from 1880 to 1882.

Shortly after marrying Ellen Elizabeth Hurlstone in November 1882, Reid was sent to Queensland where he opened several more Hutton’s factories.

In later years Reid was President of the National Cricket Association and Queensland Bowling Association.
