John O'keefe

Preston Shire President (1879-1880)

John O'Keefe came from one of the Irish families who bought farming land in the area around High Street and Plenty Road then known as Gowerville. He was part of a committee which applied for a school and a grant towards its erection. He was Shire President of Preston in 1879/80 when it was known as Jika Shire.
