661 High Street, Thornbury

Norman Outram established his hairdressing business in High Street Thornbury in 1922. As was common in those days Outran also operated a small private library of about 6,000 books. This pay for use library cost the borrower sixpence per item to loan. Other services including sell tobacco and other small items.

Hair cuts were 1/6d and sixpence for a shave. After five years at 661 High Street Outram purchased new premises at 669 High Street and moved there.
