In 1845 a liquor licence was granted to Robert Duff and he opened the Pilgrim Inn which became the first hotel in the Northcote area. This hotel was followed by many more over the next 150 years to come and go in what is now the area of Darebin. This book tells the stories of the changing faces and names of the pubs in the area and details the contribution that they made not only to the social, but also the political, cultural and sporting history of the area.
