H. Walkerden was a Preston brickmaker who operated a brickworks with his brother in Oakover Street (now the Harry Swain Reserve). It was a thriving business, employing sixteen men and turning out 20,000 bricks per week. Their brickworks had three kilns and eleven drying sheds.
