In late October 1912 Percival Brewster aged 7 years, drowned at the Northcote Brickworks. The water's depth was about 4.5m (14 ft). The young lad fell in whilst gathering wild flowers with his twin brother. This was an old quarry hole near Victoria Rd. He lived at 3 Christmas St.
William John Stewart stated he could swim and with a rope around him, retrieved the body. It was thought Percival had been underwater for about 15 minutes.
Dr David Mendelsohn tried recovery in vain. Dr Cole, P. M., declared an accidental drowning.
